Tropical Storm Vamco left around 380 tourists stranded on Koh Lan Island in Pattaya Bay yesterday. Two-metre-high waves and gale-force winds swept across the bay as Vamco passed over the northern end of the Gulf of Thailand.

Authorities in Vietnam’s Khanh Hoa Province say its flagship nature reserve and mountain peak will be developed in a bid to attract more tourists. The Indian Embassy has issued a travel advisory cautioning its nationals about the scams that often accompany hiring a jet-ski at Thai seaside resorts. Police in Bangkok have arrested a Lao national for alleged assaults on Bangkok’s underground train system and at Siam Square. The arrest followed a complaint by a female passenger that she was smacked in the face and threatened with death last Friday while travelling on the subway.
Part of one of one of Bangkok’s arterial roads will close this weekend to allow for the construction of a Skytrain line extension. The system’s green line, or Sukhumvit Line, is being extended from its present northern terminus at Morchit as far as Khu Khot Station in Phathum Thani.
