Prachuap Khiri Khan Thailand – Best Guesthouses and Hotels to Stay
Budget
Whenever we come to Prachuap, the first address we check is inevitably Nin’s Place. Boasting prime location a couple of steps from the mail pier and the weekend market, with a handful of spacious pretty rooms with balconies facing the sea, it is a real deal starting from 300 THB. Yep, the bathrooms are shared and the place is almost always full so plan ahead. A couple of years ago it was the only place in town where they served the Western-style breakfast, and though today it is no longer the point, we still love the atmosphere of Nin’s and Nin herself, who also sells bead bracelets too.
If Nin’s is full, check Maggie’s Guesthouse. Located down the seafront towards Ao Manao, it is in a quieter part of the bay. What we like about Maggie’s is that wonderful rasta-feel when you are free to come in, take a key from a bunch to one of the available rooms and leave your pay in the morning if the owners are not at the desk. They also have a kitchenette for the guests what helps a lot if you do not want to spend your baht in the restaurants. There are both shared and private bathrooms and a scattering of different rooms, overlooking the sea and in the back building. From 300 THB.
For the backpacker on a shoestring budget, it doesn’t get much better than Milano Coffee and Guesthouse. The guesthouse offers a superb service for an incredibly low price, allowing you to save those precious pennies for entrance fees and the cost of worthwhile activities. Rooms in the guesthouse go for as little as 400 THB. For this price, the budget traveller borders on becoming a discerning one. Air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi come standard. Unfortunately, so do shared bathrooms. However, this small cost is worthwhile when considering the overall deal. The property is well located, just a few streets away from the train station, and a short walk away from Khao Chong Krachok.
Mont Talay Hotel is another good option for the budget-conscious traveller. While it cannot quite match the low prices and offers from Milano Coffee and Guesthouse, it is a strong competitor. A key advantage is the 24-hour front desk, providing a sense of ease to those on late night busses or those with unpredictable schedules. The rooms are simple, but comfortable. Importantly, they come with an en suite bathroom, which makes a world of difference and may just justify the price difference. Rooms begin at 400 THB, cost 700 THB for the same one with air-conditioning, and head a little further north of this if you’re interested in a balcony. The property is also nearby Khao Chong Krachok and can easily be reached by foot. Ultimately, it is a fantastic option for those skimping on pillow treats and room service, but not the comfort of your own bathroom.
Even more basic and less comfortable lodging options can be found by just perusing the streets of the city. Homestays and very simple rooms can always be found to those who go looking for it, much like help at Hogwarts.
Mid-range
A fantastic mid-range option is the Happy House on The Beach in Pak Nam Pran. The rooms are simple and comfortable, but the location is incredible! Expect all the basics in the room from an en suite bathroom with hot water to air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi. It is all the extra’s that really make this accommodation one to visit. The long stretch of beach that is just metres away from the property, the many beach chairs, the BBQ’s on site, the pool lounge, and the picnic area all make the property stand out from the rest. Rooms begin at 850 THB.
At the higher end of mid-range accommodations is Mountain View Resort. The three-star resort boasts a beautiful outdoor pool, BBQ grills for your catch of the day, and a daily housekeeping service for each of their bungalows. The rooms are small but well done. The fittings and furnishing are of a high quality and ensure a comfortable night’s sleep. Rooms begin at THB 1500 and include all the expected amenities – air-conditioning included, of course. This is a great option for those looking for a touch of quality and a luxury without the big price tag attached.
Top End
There is not the incredible array of fine establishments you may desire around Prachuap Khiri Khan city itself. However, many jaw-dropping, butterflies-in-your-tummy accommodations exist within the province, most especially in and around Hua Hin.
Once such incredible accommodation is Aleenta Pranburi. With each room unique in all the world, there is a magic here that is beyond the explanatory power of sentences and expressions. Just steps away from an unspoiled, world-class four kilometre stretch of beach are the suites of this resort. The suites have private pools, and absolutely lavish bedrooms with fine and delicate furnishings. The resort is made that much better by the availability of its signature spa, pool lounge, cocktail bar and gourmet restaurant. It is place you stay when you work too much, and really deserve a night’s stay in a place where you will feel like the extraordinary individual that you are. The resort has ocean view suites, a beach house, and a penthouse. Rooms begin at 8000 THB in low season.
A different kind of luxury is on offer at the Cape Nidhra Hotel in Hua Hin. The fairly young establishment of just seven years has soared to success and into the realm of five star lodgings. The rooms are earthly, luxurious and extremely comforting. The dark wooden details are wonderfully accentuated by clean whites and the bright greens of the gardens attached. Certain rooms come with big private infinity pools, while others come with a garden and hot tub to boot. The bathrooms come standard with large standalone stubs, and a sleek stone detailing. Rooms begin at 9000 THB in low season.
Ultimately, there is something for everyone, and every price range in Prachuap Khiri Khan. So, come along!
