Sanya China – 10 Best Hotels and Resorts in All Price Ranges

It’s a popular beach destination for both local and foreign guests, so it comes as no surprise that there are lots of options in Sanya. It’s rich cultural and natural landscapes draw tourists from China and abroad. For those travelling on a budget, there are backpacker joints and youth hostels across the city in convenient locations. However, if you are travelling with your family choose a mid range hotel, or one of the ultra-luxurious 5 star resorts.

Budget accommodation

As with most of Sanya’s accommodation, the price of accommodation is usually relevant to where you stay (tourist attractions, beaches, downtown). However, there are still many budget options available in most areas. Youth hostels and backpackers offer what you’d expect- free WIFI, shared rooms and a communal lounge or kitchen. Here are the ones we love most:

1. Captain’s House Hostel

27 RMB
We loved the sailors theme! Not only is it a short 3-minute walk from the beach, there’s also an on-site restaurant. Some rooms have a sitting area, and you’ll even get cable TV. Have a drink at the bar with fellow travellers, or have a chat in the communal lounge. The Sanya Phoenix International Airport is only 14 km away. You get also get room service.

2. Sanya Haitangbay Tingtao Xiaozhu Hostel

34 RMB
The best thing about this hotel is the amenities. Everything is very well looked after, neat and clean. You’ll get free WIFI throughout the hostel, and you get free slippers, toiletries and a hairbrush. You’ll also get a TV with cable channels. There’s a cool bar to relax and look out over the sea. They even offer an airport shuttle. Another added bonus is the private rooms- you won’t have to share your space.

3. Gasby International Youth Hostel

52 RMB
This is a pet-free youth hostel (very rare), so bring your pooch along! You’ll get free WIFI as well as a private parking space if you’re travelling by car. There’s also cable TV, and the front desk is open all day long so they’re always there to lend a hand. You can also rent a car directly from the hostel, and it’s 17 km from the airport. Don’t forget to play a round of pool in the common room.

4. Sanya Xingzhe Youth Hostel

Just a 5 minute walk from the popular beach at Dadonghai, and with stunning views of Luhuitou Mountain behind you, the natural scenery in this location is breath-taking! It’s ideally located for sight-seeing. You can have a drink on the terrace whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery, and there’s free WIFI everywhere. The front desk is incredibly convenient, and they’ll help you arrange tours to popular tourist attractions, laundry and photocopying. You can choose between shared rooms for a cheaper price, or enjoy some privacy with private rooms and bathrooms.

Mid-range accommodation

Most of Sanya’s hotels are in this range, and there are a huge variety so focus rather on location because many offer very similar services. If you’re travelling with your family these are usually the best option. There are good deals available for this range, so spend some time looking. Look for the ones near the beach or other tourist attractions. You’ll get great service, on-site restaurants and English-speaking staff.

5. Sanya Zhi Ai Lily Seaview Apartment

438 RMB
We like this one because it’s only a short 3-minute walk from the beach, and you get awesome beach views from your balcony! It’s in Dadonghai Bay, a popular area for beachgoers.

All units come with a big flat screen TV with cable, and some have a balcony and terrace so you can look out over the ocean with your morning coffee (just request this from the front desk). You’ll get your own private kitchen with a microwave, and there’s a sun terrace if you like tanning or relaxing by the outdoor pool.

6. Bao Hong Hotel

If you’d like to avoid the crowded beaches that are prevalent in Sanya, choose this hotel because it has it’s own private beach! There’s a restaurant on the premises and each room has an AC as well as satellite TV. Rooms are equipped with a kettle and a sitting area, and you’ll get bathrobes and slippers. The front desk provides car and bike rental (bikes are a great way to explore the city!). The front desk is open all hours, and there’s also a gym.

This hotel is only a 12 minute walk from the beach, offering property-wide WIFI and a private parking space. Every room has an AC, and you also get a sitting area to relax in. The bathroom has a bathtub (very rare in China!), a kettle, bathrobe and slippers. You can rent a car from the 24 hour front desk, and the hotel is also pet friendly!

8. Sanya Marriott Hotel Dadonghai Bay

Enjoy the luxuries of an international hotel chain. The staff are incredibly helpful and speak English well. There’s a stunning bar on-site with a brilliant view. The resort has a heated pool (swim all year long) and a well equipped gym.

Some rooms have better views than other, so you can request a view of the beach or the mountain when you book. Your room will have a bathtub and all amenities included.

You can rent a bike from the helpful front desk (we recommend this- the area is popular for hiking). The food at the on site restaurant is excellent, and you’ll also a find a spa on the premises.

Sanya is home to some of the best luxury hotels in the country. They will cater to your every need, have world-class restaurants, spas, gyms and amenities all on the premises. Here are the two best:

9. Banyan Tree Sanya

With the peace and privacy of your own private villa, this is the perfect way to embrace the wonderful island vibes. Each unit comes with the best amenities you can imagine, including huge flat screen TVs with satellite television. There’s a private beach area so you won’t be bothered by hordes of tourists. Another international hotel brand, so you can expect high-quality service. It’s only a 6 minute walk to the beach in the pristine Yalong Bay. On site there’s a great sauna, spa and gym. Guest can unwind in the year long pool or catch a drink with a view at the bar. Rooms are incredibly well equipped, and there’s even a hair salon on the premises!
Included in the deal are your own private beach area and an airport shuttle service.
