Shopping Malls, Markets Close in Bangkok

The Bangkok administration has issed an order for all shopping malls, markets and some other businesses in Bangkok to close from Sunday March, 22. 

The list of businesses which must remain closed includes: 

Health spas
Movie theatres
Bars
Weight-loss clinics
Waxing salons
Skating or rollerblading rinks
Beauty salons
Amusement parks
Bowling alleys
ArcadesInternet/gaming cafes
Golf courses
Driving ranges
Public swimming pools
Tattoo parlours
Child care/babysitting centres
Care services for the elderly
Buddhist amulet markets
Cockfighting arenas
Meeting and exhibition venues
Fresh markets
Child care and education centres
All educational institutes

They will remain closed for three weeks till April, 12.

Supermarkets and pharmacies are allowed to remain open while restaurants are permitted to offer takeaway service only. The only exception is granted to hotel restaurants that will continue serving food to their guests. 

Food courts in malls are allowed to remain open but are encouraged to only offer takeaway food, too.

Visiting populated areas and using BTS and MRT services is discouraged. The private sector has been urged, where possible, to allow all employees to work from home.
