Philippines CEO, Ricky Isla, said, “We are pleased to announce our new domestic destination, Zamboanga. Our newest route cements AirAsia’s connections amongst the country’s major islands: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The launching of the new route is in support of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat’s push for a livelier tourism within the Philippines and her department’s campaign, ‘It’s More Fun in the Philippines.'”
Flights between Clark and Zamboanga will be operated four times a week and will take 1 hour 45 minutes.
Travel time over the Cebu–Zamboanga route will be 70 minutes.
Both routes will be served starting from March, 29, this year.
Zamboanga city sits at the southernmost tip of the Zamboanga Peninsula in Mindanao. Once a busy Spanish settlement, it boasts rich Hispanic heritage. For its lion's share in the canned sardines production reaching 90 percent of the country's output, Zamboanga is often called the sardine capital of Philippines.

Philippines AirAsia has disclosed their plans to launch direct flights between Zamboanga and two of the country's major airports, Mactan Cebu International Airport, the second busiest international airport in the Philippines, serving Cebu and the Central Visayas region, and Clark International Airport, serving Central Luzon and Metro Manila.
