Three-year rights (2020-2022) to host Spartan Races in Thailand were granted to the Royal Thai Army, in conjunction with the Sports Authority of Thailand, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Athletic Association of Thailand, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau and Move Asia.

The first race of the 2020 Spartan Thailand Race Season will be held in Huai Tung Tao, Chiang Mai in June, 12-14. Krabi will host the second event in September, 11-13 with Songkhla following in November, 6-8.

Over 15,000 competitors from all over the region are expected to take part in the races. The races are expected to generate a cash flow of about 350 million Baht.

The three host provinces has been chosen in accordance with the TAT's long-standing policy to boost tourism in the provinces which traditionally see less visitors than Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya. Each of the three provinces boasts stunning natural beauty and attractions providing great sightseeing and recreational opportunities for both the competitors and spectators.
