Yangon International Airport Gets Digital Concierge System

A digital concierge system project aimed at helping arriving travellers was launched in Myanmar's main airport, the Yangon International Airport last Sunday.

The system will provide access to the tourist information and latest promotions published on the Maynmar's Ministry of Hotels and Tourism website via a QR code. A representative of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism said that other related information will be gradually added to the system after the trial period.

The QR code project is primarily focusing on promoting tourism in Myanmar with the help of digital technology. It relies on cooperation between the state and the private sector, sourcing the information from the e-government systems and allowing access to the services of the ministry.

The digital or virtual concierge is a type of customer experience (CX) technology. It provides users with verbal and contextual assistance related to travel around the country. To reach the services offered by the system, travellers need a smartphone.

The Yangon International Airport is the third international airport in Myanmar to get the digital concierge. Last year in December, the beta version of digital concierge system and the QR code system was laucnhed at the Tada U airport in Mandalay and Bagan airport. The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism said the system proved to be a useful instrument for international tourists.
