Langkawi to Host Belt & Road Royal Langkawi International Regatta

Langkawi, Malaysia's premier tourist destination and a duty-free island in the Andaman Sea, is preparing to host the 18th edition of the annual Belt & Road Royal Langkawi International Regatta. This year, the popular event is scheduled for January 6–January 11.

Organized by the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), the regatta will be hosted by the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club, Langkawi, Kedah.

The highly anticipated event will draw participants from Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Russia, Japan, Great Britain, Austria, the Netherlands and the United States of America. Up to now, 30 boats have already registered to participate in the regatta. The contestants will compete in seven classes including Racing, IRC 1, IRC 2, Multihull, Sportsboat, Club and White Sail.

Races for all classes will take place daily from January, 7 to January 11 with awards presentation ceremonies to be held on January, 7, 9, and 11.

Besides the coveted Prime Minister’s Challenge Trophy, teams will compete for the Commodore’s Challenge Cup, the LADA-IRC Challenge Trophy, RLIR-IRC2 Challenge Trophy, Langkawi Sports Trophy, as well as the Malaysia Multihull Challenge Cup.
