HCMC's Ngyuen Hue Street Gets Light & Music Fountain

Ho Chi Minh City's main broad walking promenade, Nguyen Hue Street, in the centre of District 1, now features a musical fountain with nightly colourful performances.

The musical fountain was opened in the end of October at the intersection of Ngyuen Hue and Le Loi. Built in a form of a glass lotus flower, it is surrounded with sprinkles symbolizing unity and good will of HCMC dwellers. Construction of the fountain cost the city USD992,000.

Light and music fountain shows take place every evening between 5.30 pm and 11 pm drawing tourists to Vietnam's first walking street. Ngyuen Hue Street is 670 metres long and 64 metres wide and is currently waiting for being fully illuminated. It is flanked with some of the most beautiful examples of the French colonial architecture including the building of the People’s Comittee and the Rex Hotel it is a nice place for sightseeing and a stroll. The fountain is located by the statue of Uncle Ho Chi Minh from where the street runs down to Saigon River with airy views and cool breeze. 

According to the authorities, the walking area will soon get a facelift with more facilities planned for visitors.
