Food tourism has been performing strong all around the world recently. Today's travellers tend to concentrate more on experiences than on sighseeing and visiting world-class attractions. The Philippines do have a lot to offer to discerning foodies.
DOT's new campaign launched in collaboration with Jollibee Food Corporation and called "Eats. More Fun in the Philippines" showcases the best dishes of the country's wide array of delicacies. A special roadmap will be developed to promote food-related destinations in the country many of which are less-known.
Last year, DOT organized "Kain Na", a food-travel fest that was held simultaneously in several locations throughout the country including Legazpi City, Albay and Cebu City, Cagayan de Oro City, Laguna, Clark, Pampanga, and Davao City. This year, the fest will return with more destinations taking part.
Slow food movement that is getting more and more popular around the world, will be considered, too. The government of the country supports that idea of the movement that calls to preserve traditional cooking and helps promote native ingredients found in a specific destination.
