Rides on the Airport line and ITECC line can be already paid via the LDB trust service, a QR code payment system developed by Lao Development Bank. Payment systems accepted by the service include VISA, MasterCard, UnionPay and JCB. Currently the system is in its trial period. If proves successful, other banks will join the service providing passengers to pay electronically for their rides on all bus routes around the Lao capital.
VSCBE currently offers 14 city bus routes including 11 urban. In recent years, a lot has been done to improve Vientiane city bus system making it more convenient and widely available with the support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Laos. The majority of Vientiane buses operate from the Central Bus Station (CBS) aka Morning Market or Talat Sao bus station. Bus service around the city operates between 5.30 am and 7 pm.
The company also operates six provincial routes and four international routes to Thailand – between Vientiane and Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen and Bangkok.

City buses in Vientiane will start accepting cashless payments soon – Vientiane Capital State Bus Enterprise (VSCBE,) which operates Vientiane City Bus Service, has already installed cashless electronic payment system on several bus routes in the Lao capital.
