While monsoon season in drawing to its end, festivals and celebrations kick off all across the country. We've chosen five fests not to miss this September. Enjoy.

Hartalika Teej 
On September, 1, is the day for worshipping Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva in DelhiUttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. Women observing the day, refrain from food and drink and stay vigil during the night singing devotional songs.

Ganesh Chaturthi 
Ganesh is worshipped during the whole month of Bhadrapad, and this festival held from September 2 to September 12 opens the celebrations. One of the most beloved gods of the pantheon, Ganesh is the god of profound wisdom and the remover of obstacles of all kinds. Head to Maharashtra for the best experience.

Abhaneri Festival
The end of September is the right time to visit Rajasthan when the state's heritage and culture are showcased in the village of Abhaneri on September, 29 and 30. Traditional singing, dancing and puppet shows draw hordes of visitors.

Onam 
A festival of harvest, Onam lasts from September 1 to 13. If you've always dreamt of elephants, come to see impressive processions of regally decorated giants. Snake boat races are also in the program.

Chakradhar Samaroh 
From September 2 to 12, Raigarh in Chhattisgarh hosts a music and dance festival dedicated to King Chakradhar Singh of Raigarh. The highlight of the festival is Bharatnatyam, Sufi music and other classical dances and music.
