Myanmar Airways International Now Flies Direct between Mandalay and Hefei

The number of Chinese visitors to Myanmar is growing – and so in the number of direct flights between the two countries. Now Hefei and Mandalay have a direct air link, too.

Direct flights were launched between Hefei and Mandalay on August, 4. They are operated by Myanmar Airways International, a Myanmar privately owned Yangon-based airline. 

The distance between Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province in east China, and Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar, is 2400 km. Hefei is 90 minutes ahead of Mandalay.

New route is served three times a week departing from Mandalay at 5.25 pm on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and arriving to Hefei at 10.05 pm. In the opposite direction, the flights leave Hefei Xinqiao International Airport at 11.05 pm and get to Mandalay International Airport at 1 am the next day. Flying time is about three hours 30 minutes.

MandalayHefei flight by Myanmar Airways International is the first flight that connects Hefei to Mandalay and to Myanmar in general. 

Hefei is the capital and the largest city of Anhui province in China with its population reaching almost 8 million people. Mandalay is the second-largest city in Maynmar with its population of 1.3 million people. It is a cultural city and one of the main tourist destinations in Myanmar. Bagan, which was given the UNESCO World Heritage Site status recently is located in the Mandalay region.
