Earlier, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) called DOT and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to undertake measures for cleaning El Nido's Bacuit Bay and Corong-Corong Outfall to prevent possible spread of bacterial infection among tourists and locals. At least 3.4 million most probable number/ 100 milligrams on fecal coliform level was found in the water samples taken from one of the outfalls in Corong-Corong and Bacuit Bay.
While the complete report is still expected, the DOT believes a rehabilitation without closure is the most viable recommendation.
