Train Journey on Historical Steam Express Is Available for INR10

The historical Steam Express of the Indian Railways goes live again and is ready to take passengers for an atmospheric ride from Garhi Harsaru to Farukhnagar and back for mere INR 10.

The Indian Railways have recently opened booking for a unique trip on a historic steam express between Garhi Harsaru and Farukhnagar. This short 11 km journey will take just under half an hour. The route will be served by a steam engine train, and it is the first time it is back to operation after an over half-a-century hiatus. The Steam Express features a WP7200 AZAD, a broad gauge 1947 steam engine. The train has been revamped and now looks exactly as it used to. All the mechanical work has been done to perfection. 

Garhi Harsaru is a town and railway station in Gurgaon district of the northern Indian state of Haryana. Farukhnagar is a town and municipality in the same district. 

The Indian Railways boasts quite a rich history of over 160 years and manages the fourth largest railway network in the world. Four of its components – Nilgiri Mountain Railway, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Kalka Shimla Railway and Darjeeling Himalayan Railway – are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
