Experience Sarawak's Rich Heritage in Sarawak Cultural Village

Located in the foothils of the Mount Santubong, Sarawak Cultural Village is a living museum where multiple ethnic groups of Sarawak, Malaysia come together to let you experience the culture of the state.

The village was created in order to preserve rich cultural heritage of the state where the Bidayuh, Iban, Orang Ulu, Penan, Melanau, Malay and Chinese live together in harmony with each other. While it is an purposely created village, it still feels very authentic with replicas of buildings and structures characteristic for different ethnic groups. These houses are 'inhabited' by locals who do their daily routine thus making visitors acquainted with the way of life of the community they belong to, offering hands-on participation and learning of traditional crafts and trades.

Located in the northwest Borneo, Sarawak is the largest of 13 Malaysian states. Even for Malaysia which embraces so many cultures and influences, Sarawak is an extraordinary and unique mix with Iban – former fierce headhunters from Borneo – being the major ethnic group. The cultural village allows to experience Sarawak's amazing background, providing a condensed but highly informative insight into the life of different ethnic groups living in the state.

Sarawak Cultural Village is located 35 km north of Kuching. It is an easy 50–60 imnutes ride by taxi or a sligtly longer trip on a shuttle bus that departs regularly from Grand Margherita Hotel in the city centre.
