The festival will take place in the National Kandawgyi Gardens in Mandalay Region where over 200,000 flowering plants will be presented to public. Located at an altitude of slightly over 1,000 m and thus boasting rather cool climate, Pyin U Lwin is a perfect region for growing flowers, coffee trees and strawberries which abound there.
The floral arrangements at the exhibition will be handled by flower experts of Chian Mai, Thailand, also famous for its flowers and flower festival which usually falls on the first weekend of February. Besides flower beds, there will be flower sculptures and floats, too. Flowers will cover over 360 acres of land and 70 acres of water. The program of the festival will feature music and singing performances as well as a lot of food stalls.
Pyin U Lwin can be reached by train from Mandalay, Hsipaw and Lashio (four, six and 10 hours respectively). Travelling from Yangon requires passing through Hsipaw though there is a direct bus. From Inle Lake, it is necessary to get to Mandaklay first before continuing your journey to Pyin U Lwin.
