Fly Direct between Mandalay and Guangzhou

A popular Chinese low-cost airline, 9 Air, a relatively young (2014) subsidiary of Juneyao Airlines based in Guangzhou, has launched direct flights between their Chinese hub and Mandalay in Myanmar.

From October, 2nd, 9 Air makes three weekly return flights between Guangzhou and Mandalay. There are flights on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturda. The route is served by a Boeing 737-86X passenger jet accommodating 185 passengers.

The number of visitors from China is growing throughout the Southeast Asia and Myanmar is no exception. Currently there are three Chinese airlines – Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Southern Airlines – regularly flying to Yangon from diffent locations in China. Mandalay is now served by four Chinese airlines, including the newcomer 9 Air – China Eastern Airlines, Donghai Airlines, and Sichuan Airlines. The majority of the Chnese flying to Mandalay, though, are not tourists but businessmen with interest in the Burmese jade and amber markets.

For 9 Air Mandalay in Myanmar has become the first international destination – till recently the airline has serviced only domestic routes including flights to Xian, Urunqi, Tianjin, Nanning, Harbin, and Changsha among the others.
