Tourist Attractions in Punjab to Get a Facelift

This measure should make the state more attractive in the eyes of international travellers drawing more visitors to the region. The attractions chosen to take part in the renovation program are located across the state and after the facelift will become world-class tourist spots. The government is ready to spend over USD180 mln to finance the project.

Out of 30 attractions eleven are located in the historical city of Amritsar – Amritsar’s Heritage Street, Gobindgarh Fort, Jallianwala Bagh public garden, War Memorial, Partition Museum, Pul Moran and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Summer Palace among others. Other spots which were put into the priority list include Wagah Border where a popular ceremony of changing guards attracts hordes of tourists daily. 

Punjab can be easily reached by air internationally or domestically through Amritsar's Raja Sansi International airport or by train from many locations countrywide. Punjab has a rich history of Sikhism and Hinduism and offers visitors a variety of cultural, historical and spiritual attractions.
