Batam becomes the hub of western Indonesia

More airlines in Indonesia open new route to bypass the main Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta, which is congested in these latter days. Batam on the Riau Islands with Hang Nadim International Airport becomes new hub in western Indonesia.

More airlines in Indonesia open new route to bypass the main Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta, which is congested in these latter days. Batam on the Riau Islands with Hang Nadim International Airport becomes new hub in western Indonesia. It offers flights to Sulawesi, Kalimantan Islands and other popular destinations.

The main budget carrier of the country was the first who launched flights without going through Soekarno-Hatta. Now it offers 23 flights connected Hang Nadim International Airport. In the next year Lion Air plans to link Batam with Malaysia and Sulawesi. Garuda Indonesia, the national carrier also offers domestic flights to and from Batam.
