Dinosaur expo lands in Khon Kaen shopping mall

Tuesday saw the opening of a unique dinosaur and fossil exhibition at a major shopping mall in Khon Kaen. The expo highlights the discoveries of pre-historic fossils and relics in the northeastern Thai province’s Phu Wiang Dinosaur Valley.

Kamthorn Thawornsathit is the governor of Khon Kaen Province. He told reporters at the opening ceremonies at the Central Plaza Khon Kaen that the exhibition would take travellers on a virtual odyssey back in time to the era when dinosaurs walked tall on earth.

Light and sound shows in correlation with authentic reproductions of various genres of dinosaurs ensure the visitor experience is truly original. Entry to Amazing Thailand Dinosaurs@Khon Kaen is free. It is open every day until Sunday 24 April.

Phu Wiang Valley is around 80kms west of Khon Kaen Town. Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum houses fossils and other exhibits found in the locality since the discovery of the first sauropoda bones in the late 1970s. As well as dinosaurs, Khon Kaen attracts with tourism draws like King Cobra Village and the nine-storey Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon pagoda.

Khon Kaen is a major interchange for intercity buses and serves routes linking Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phitsanoluk and Nong Khai. 12GO ASIA offers convenience when buying tickets for the bulk of these services.
