The fest will run for four days and the organisers say more than 20 balloonists will be strutting their manoeuvres for the enjoyment of visitors. Promoter Kritpanat Patwarasit runs Chor Creative Company. After a meeting with governor he said there will be several highlights.
One of these is the Night Glow which will feature the balloon burners being fired up to the sound of music. Mr Patwarasit explained that visitors would be able to go aloft in anchored balloons and, if the weather was favourable, to take flights.
The venue is close to Phuket’s British International School. The festival bill also has slots for live music concerts by the likes of Jetseter and Namm Ronnade. The addition of a balloon festival to Phuket’s annual calendar follows similar moves by Thai cities including Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
