Railay comes under the jurisdiction of Hat Nopparat Thara National Park. Unveiling the designated zone for swimmers, park boss Sarayuth Tanthien said the THB70,000 cost of the floating defence barrier had been funded by tourism and other related companies in the local area.
He carried on by saying the designated zone had become a necessity as there had been a couple of accidents recently in which swimmers were injured by jet-skiers and boats. The chief-ranger added that officials in Krabi would take action against any boat or jet-ski users who ran over the buoys.
He finished off by saying a similar delineated swimming zone on Koh Phi Phi had slashed the frequency of accidents there. Railay Beach is only accessible from Krabi or Ao Nang by longtail boat. Getting to Krabi is easily accomplished when you choose 12GO ASIA as your ticket provider.
