A representative at Wat Pha Tak Suea Temple said the 16-metre-long glass structure should be ready to use at the end this month and will be open in time for the start of the annual Songkran holiday on 12 April. The viewing platform has been built on the side of a cliff face and extends six meters out from it.
With glass walls and floors, the skywalk will offer panoramic vistas over the Mekong and across into the virgin countryside of Laos. The skywalk features a U-shape while the glass it has been fashioned from is reinforced and has a thickness of four centimetres. The whole support framework has been built out of rustproof metal and should be able to withstand the rigours of the rainy season every year.
