The actual name is a misnomer as the fest is split into two parts with almost a week between them. The first segment of the festival will be staged at Patong Beach between 8 and 10 April and the second in Phuket Old Town on 15 and 16 April.
The two parts of Bike Week come either side of the annual Songkran water-fight festival which usually kicks off with trial skirmishes on 12 April. The organisers say that judging by previous years up to 10,000 motorcyclists could be riding down to Phuket for the event.
The entertainment on offer at Bike Week is a real mixed bag with big bike cavalcades a definite highlight for spectators. Live music, the chance of snacking on tasty culinary offerings, the Yamaha Gymkhana and a beauty pageant are designed to appeal to a broad spectrum of visitors.
