Nukool Pornsomboonsiri is the town’s mayor and he stated that the event was being organised with the assistance of the local branch of the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Singha Beer Corporation. He noted that not only would visitors be able to sample crab specials, but they would also be able to learn about crab-fishing and the efforts made to conserve stocks.
Cha-am Crab Festival is a week-long event beginning on 12 March 2016. Food stalls at the seafront festival site serve other local seafood dishes as well as crabs. There is live entertainment on most evenings with a bill featuring top Thai musical artistes.
Atom Chanakan is scheduled to take the stage on opening night and will be followed the next day by Kate Chinapak R-Siam. Tuck Washarakorn, David Intee, Somboon Pakfai and Rose Sirinthip are the other stars scheduled to appear on the ensuing evenings.
