Queen of Pop Madonna debuts in Thailand with Bangkok concert

American pop icon Madonna is set to make her debut for Thai fans tonight with a sold out concert in Bangkok. Tonight’s performance at the Muang Thong Thani event complex’s Impact Arena is the first of a two date residence for the Queen of Pop.

When tickets for the first concert went on sale back in October, there was unprecedented demand and joint organisers Live Nation BEC-Tero quickly set up the second one. The promoters and ThaiTicketMajor say there are still a few unsold tickets for the concert tomorrow.

The Bangkok dates are part of Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour. This began last September with dates in Montreal, Washington DC and New York which were also sold out.

The star’s 10th world tour has seen her play a selection of hits from a three-decade career at the pinnacle of the global music industry. Fans have been wowed by classic Madonna numbers such as Like a Virgin and Material Girl plus newer releases including Unapologetic Bitch and Holy Water.

Before landing at Bangkok’s Don Muang Airport on Sunday, Madonna had played in the Taiwanese capital of Taiwan. After Bangkok, the star will play in several other major Asian cities before heading off to New Zealand and Australia.
