Northern Nan town to stage third handicraft fair

A spokesperson for provincial authorities in the Thai town of Nan has released the dates and details of this year’s annual culture and craft fair. The venue is the plaza outside (Wat) Phumin Temple and it will run between 12 and 16 February 2016.

The fair in Nan is the third and it is a celebration of Nan Province’s textile and silverware handicraft industries. Local artisans display their products and visitors also have the chance of purchasing from the OTOP (One Tambon One Product) stalls at the fair.

Other event highlights are tutorials detailing the process of making silver jewellery and fabrics, traditional visual arts performances and seeing local musicians. This year’s fair is being combined to promote the colourful blossoms of the locally grown chompoo phukhan which are in flower at this time of year.

Phumin Temple is only 15 minutes on foot from Nan’s intercity bus station. Songthaew shared taxis or cycle-rickshaws are the other options for travel between the two locations. Getting to Nan Bus station is easy when you choose 12GO ASIA.
