Phuket marina to stage first Thai international yacht festival

Next week sees the start of the very first Thailand International Yacht Festival at one of Phuket Island’s top marinas. The yacht festival is due to begin on the 8 February 2016 at the Ao Po Grand Marina and will run through until 14 February.

From the 8 to 10 February, the organisers say there will be yachting demos and hands-on test runs. From the 11 to 14 February, the marina is the venue for the Thailand Yacht Show. Thai prime-minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is scheduled to officially launch this inaugural show on the 11.

Yacht event organiser Andy Treadwell said the main theme of Phuket’s international yacht show was super-cruisers. Ao Po Grand Marina has the capability of accommodating vessels up to 100 metres long.

Mr Treadwell noted that the Thai government was keen to stage the event and was making sure that every facility was being offered to ensure its success. Members of the general public who wish to attend this yachting extravaganza can register to do so via the Thailand Yacht Show website.
