Although the temperature has risen to 15°C today, the forecasters say it will drop again tonight and people living in high, mountainous regions can expect to see ground frost when they wake up tomorrow if there is no rain overnight. Doi Inthanon and Doi Maesalong are among the locations where frost will probably form.
The Meteorological Department says that while the worst of the weather will be confined to the north, Bangkok and the southern Thai peninsula will also see the thermometer drop. The forecast for Bangkok today is temperatures between 14°C and 18°C.
The department says rain will also sweep across the Gulf of Thailand shoreline and waves could be more than two metres high. It warned captains of fishing vessels and tourist boats they should not head out to sea if it was too choppy.
