The facility’s iconic Carl Zeiss projector is still a feature but the views of the heavens have been enhanced by the addition of two brand new Christie projectors. The trio now act in correlation to produce authentic imagery right across the dome.
One of the other main improvements is the walls have been covered with bright hues to simulate aurora. The revamp has seen the old seats ripped out and exchanged for 280 leather-upholstered ones that offer maximum comfort during the 45-minute viewing sessions.
The grand reopening ceremony took place in time for national Children's Day last Saturday. Children were offered free admission on the big day. Tbe fees are now THB20 for children while adults pay THB10 more.
Bangkok Planetarium is open from 09:00 to 16:30 from Tuesday to Sunday. The planetarium is part of the children’s interactive Science Centre for Education museum complex. The complex is about 300 metres from Ekkamai Bus and BTS Skytrain stations.

An official ceremony last week marked the relaunch of Bangkok’s beloved planetarium. The refurbishment of the five-decade-old planetarium took more than six months and cost THB95 million.
