Ngor Meng Chroun is the mayor of Poipet and he said that to allow the line to be completed three casinos and the national immigration office in the town needed to relocate. He continued by saying that the Grand Diamond, Golden Crown and Tropicana casinos had so far not responded to the requests, but were aware when the premises were built that they were on or close to public land.
At the immigration outpost, commander Sim Sam Arth said the bureau was ready to move. He said new offices had already been built and the checkpoint could be moved at the drop of a hat.
At present, travelling between the two capital cities requires travellers to take several buses and trains and also walk across the border. With a new rail service the journey will be streamlined and made even simpler with tickets purchased from 12GO ASIA.
