The man, who has since been named as Adul Thong-oon, was smacked on the head by the metal framework. According to the Bangkok Post, paramedics who attended the accident and gave first-aid described the injury as serious. The unconscious man was first dispatched to a local hospital before being moved to Maharat Hospital in Nakhon Ratchasima.
Police investigator Anuroot Sangto said he had asked the hospital to test the blood of the victim for drugs and alcohol. He told reporters that initial investigations had so far not revealed why the man had decided to lie down beside a mainline railway track for a sleep.
