Arrival figures released by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) seem to bear out the popularity of the country with Russia’s beach-lovers. The figures show that Thailand welcomed 1.6 Russians during 2014, although the number has declined percentagewise a little this year.
TAT Moscow Office director Eumporn Jiragalwisul said he was delighted Thailand had topped the poll of best beach destination. Russian tourists are regulars at Thailand’s key beach resorts of Phuket, Pattaya and Samui.
There are frequent flights from Russia to Bangkok and Phuket. During the Russian winter there are additional charter flights from Russia. Some of these land at Pattaya’s U-Tapao Airport.
