Thai wellness spas scoop top prizes at Asian awards

Four spas in Thailand have scooped up the top prizes in the annual spa awards by AsiaSpa magazine. The number one prize in the prestigious Spa of the Year category for the Southeast Asia and Pacific region went to Koh Samui’s Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary and Spa.

The other trio of Thai winners were all in the country’s capital of Bangkok. Dii Wellness Med Spa took the trophy for Medi-Spa of the Year while the Elemis Spa triumphed in the category of Men’s Spa of the Year and TRIA Signature Spa in Day Spa of the Year.

The 2015 AsiaSpa awards are the 11th in the series and now comprise 24 categories. The prize-giving ceremonies were staged in Hong Kong. Thailand shared the honours with China for the most number one places this year.

Last week, Yuthasak Supasorn, the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s governor, said the bureau wished to congratulate the Spa Thailand winners on their success. The governor noted that winning prominent prizes such as these raised the nation’s international profile.

Both Bangkok and the southern island of Koh Samui are renowned for the quality and diversity of their spa treatments and therapies. People travelling between the two locations can buy their tickets from 12GO ASIA.
