Cambodia confirms dates for Sea Festival at Kampot

Officials in the Cambodian province of Kampot are busy preparing for the country’s forthcoming Sea Festival. Kampot is the chosen venue for the 2015 version of the popular annual event which has previously been staged in Sihanoukville, Kep and Kong Kong.

The three-day cultural extravaganza will begin on 11 December. It will provide tourists with the likes of music concerts, visual arts shows and the opportunity of sampling delectable cuisine. Kampot governor noted that floating lanterns would be a beautiful sight on the River Kampot in Kampot Town.

Cambodian tourism minister Thong Khon told media sources that roads and bus services from Phnom Penh to Kampot had improved in recent years. He added that he expected record numbers of visitors to travel to Kampot for the festival and as a ballpark figure said the number could well exceed 300,000.

The 2015 Sea Festival is the fourth in a series that was originally launched following the inclusion of some of Cambodia’s beaches in the World’s Most Beautiful Bays rankings. 12GO ASIA sells tickets for the Phnom Penh-Kampot bus route. Our partner is Giant Ibis.

Giant Ibis is one of Cambodia’s premium bus operators and on this route its services go directly to Kampot. This gives a journey time of around 2 hours 30 minutes. Most other bus companies go to Kep first and it is not unknown for this trip to take five hours.
