Soaking up the sun on a beautiful Khao Lak beach

Khao Lak is a beach destination spread out along Thailand’s southern Andaman Sea shoreline. Despite its stunning beaches, Khao Lak is uncrowded and peaceful and compares pleasantly with its louder cousin a little farther south, Phuket Island.

Beaches at Khao Lak include the area’s namesake as well as Pakweeb, Nang Thong and Khuk Khak. Khao Lak beach is long, deserted and lined with shade-giving trees. Pakweeb is sheltered by an offshore coral reef and suitable for swimming and other watersports even in the rainy season.

The golden sands of Khuk Khak seem to stretch as far as the eye can see while
Nang Thong is where a good proportion of Khao Lak’s tourism infrastructure is. A choice of bungalow and holiday resorts, dive shops, eateries, bars and shops ensure visitors want for nothing.
