The wonderful natural attractions of Khao Sok National Park

Khao Sok National Park is a must for anybody with the slightest interest in nature at its best or joining in exhilarating activities. Khao Sok covers a chunk of land between Khao Lak and Surathani on the southern Thai peninsula.

The park boasts verdant rainforest with soaring limestone peaks poking through. Cheow Larn Lake is a magnificent centrepiece to the whole and spending a few days residing at one of its floating bungalows is a cathartic experience.

Hidden in the forests are caves and chasms which add to the mystique. Elephants, Malaysian sun-bears and several species of monkey are among wildlife species given free rein at Khao Sok. The flagship of the flora here is the dipterocarp tree and, with heights of up to 70-metres, they contrast nicely with the limestone peaks.

Jungle treks, bamboo-rafting and tubing are the main activities available to visitors. Khao Sok is easily reached from Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Krabi and Phuket. Travel agents in these places offer adventure excursions to the park. 12GO ASIA specialises in tickets for travel to these locations from other parts of Thailand.
