Ho Chi Minh to introduce airport to city bus link

City authorities in Ho Chi Minh have announced plans which will see a new bus service launched linking its international airport and downtown district. The service will follow a 10km route from Tan Son Nhat Airport to the centrally located Ben Thanh Market.

News carriers in Vietnam’s second city say the services will utilise brand new 63-seat coaches fitted with air-conditioners. They say ticket prices for the route have not so far been agreed, but will be dearer than the average VND10,000 (US$0.44) Ho Chi Minh bus fare.
 
Ben Thanh Market and Pham Ngu Lao are both in Ho Chi Minh’s District 1 and less than 10 minutes’ walk from each other. Pham Ngu Lao is one of the main precincts in the city frequented by international visitors. It has a varied assortment of hotels, bars and restaurants.

The market itself is an essential on the itineraries of tourists.
