He continued by saying the contract has already been signed and the museum should be ready to open to the general public six months later. The location of the 0.8-acre site is Nai Harn. The beach here is close to the southwest corner of Phuket’s coastline and 20kms from Patong.
Mr Pawai said the architecture of the museum is based on the classic Sino-Portuguese style of buildings in Phuket Old Town. He noted that as part of it will be open-plan this would save on maintenance costs in the future. He finished off by saying that once it was open the film museum would be administered by Rawai Municipality.
The Phuket branch of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) had previously stated it would be adding themed cultural draws to Phuket’s abundant natural attractions. The film museum is an ideal complement to the Tin-Mining Museum at Kathu.
Over the years, quite a few Hollywood films have been shot on location in Thailand. Some of the scenes for Bridget Jones - The Edge of Reason were shot on Phuket while The Man with the Golden Gun gave an islet in Phang Nga Bay the nickname James Bond Island.
Construction of Phuket film memorabilia museum to go ahead

The local director of the Phuket tourism office has confirmed that construction of the island’s film memorabilia museum will begin soon. Speaking to reporters earlier this week, Santi Pawai said ground-breaking ceremonies for the THB40 million facility will be held in November.
