In Bangkok, one of the focuses is on making Chao Phraya River ferries more convenient for passengers and commuters. To this end, the government has authorised the construction of an additional 19 jetties to serve express boats.
The plan is also to introduce an e-ticket system for Bangkok that will cover all modes of public transport. Instead of buying tickets each time they take ferries, buses or overground and underground trains, travellers will be able to pre-buy a common ticket for use on all. Bangkok’s two airports will also be expanded. Suvarnabhumi Airport’s passenger terminals will be enlarged and a third runway built. Don Muang Airport plus Phuket’s airport are undergoing renovations which are scheduled for completion over the next six months.
