Highway 3 runs along the Thai eastern seaboard between Rayong and Trat and en route passes through Chanthaburi. National routes lead off the highway and give access to coastal villages and beach resorts. Those travelling by bus from Bangkok will find it expedient to disembark at Chanthaburi Bus Station and get a songthaew taxi from here.
Most of the hotels and resorts on the coast will lay on private transfers for guests if they request one. Bangkok buses for Chanhtaburi depart from the city’s Ekkamai and Morchit terminals. There is very little difference in travel time and they usually take about four to five hours.
12GO ASIA is an agent for some of the bus companies and can sell you tickets for confirmed seat reservations. All you have to do is make sure you get to the station 20 minutes prior to your bus’s scheduled departure time. We also sell tickets for services from Pattaya to Chanthaburi and Trat.
Beach holidays in Chanthaburi
News in AsiaThe eastern Thai province of Chanthaburi is noted for its wonderful beaches, tasty seafood, luscious fruit and laid-back atmosphere. Beaches such as Chao Lao and Laem Sing are just that little bit too far to visit on daytrips from Bangkok. For this reason, apart from on multi-day national holidays, beaches along the Chanthaburi shoreline are rarely crowded.
