Skyscanner names Thailand as most searched for Asian holiday location

Data just released by Skyscanner shows that Thailand is currently the most searched about country in Asia. The figures, which relate to the first six months of 2015, place the Southeast Asian nation at number 10 in the global search listings.

Grace Areerat is Skyscanner’s marketing manager for the country and she says the figures confirm Thailand is a firm favourite with international holidaymakers as well as domestic tourists. She continued by saying beautiful land and seascapes plus a rich cultural heritage had ensured Thailand remained a perennially popular holiday hotspot.

Ms Areerat finished off with the claim it was Thailand’s destination diversity and plethora of activity options that also helped to attract visitors. The travel search engine also revealed the capital, Bangkok, in addition to the two southern islands of Koh Samui and Phuket had garnered the most search hits.

The study showed that search requests for Bangkok had increased by almost half when compared to the previous period. The Thai Tourism Bureau lists Bangkok’s highlights as premium shopping, dining and nightlife as well as warm hospitality and abundant sightseeing locations.
