Two Thai towns listed in best global places to retire 2015

Two key Thai tourist destinations have been named among the top ten global hotspots to retire in. Live and Invest Overseas placed the Gulf of Thailand heritage resort of Hua Hin in seventh place and the northern city of Chiang Mai in eighth.

The Panama based agency scored Hua Hin highly with its location right beside golden beaches and convenience of being just over two hours away from Bangkok by road. Hua Hin was also praised for its thriving expat community, access to health care, negligible crime rates, food, golf and other outdoor activities.

Both Hua Hin and Chiang Mai boast great weather and the latter is also home to lots of expats and has tourist attractions to suit every possible taste. Visitors are able to do everything from elephant treks and ziplining through the treetops to cultural odysseys of museums and temples.

The two Thai locations were in illustrious company as Portugal’s Algarve coastal region snapped up the number one spot for the second year running. The Algarve also has good weather and health care but gained kudos for its cheap retirement homes and cost of living.
