The Gulf of Thailand island loop

The Gulf of Thailand island loop

The three southern Thai islands of Koh Tao, Koh Phangan and Koh Samui lie in the Gulf of Thailand opposite the provinces of Chumpon and Surathani. Wonderful beaches and myriad activities including the best diving and snorkelling in this part of Asia pull in countless visitors every year.

It is possible to visit the three islands without backtracking and in a kind of gulf loop. From Bangkok and points north, visitors can board high speed catamaran ferries at Chumpon Port which call at the trio of tropical isles en route to piers at Surathani.

The same trip can be done in reverse if travelling from the Andaman Sea coast or the far south of Thailand and the Malaysian border. People wishing to go straight to Koh Samui after arriving in Bangkok might find the combined train-ferry via Surathani is more expedient and way cheaper than taking a Bangkok Airways flight.

12GO ASIA collaborates with ferry companies including Lomprayah as well as bus operators and the State Railway of Thailand to provide travellers with a stress free means of buying tickets for travel. Advance ticket purchases streamline journeys and do away with the need to queue for tickets for each leg of the journey.
