Thailand remains a favourite with Chinese travellers

The results of an annual survey have revealed that Thailand remains a firm favourite with holidaying Chinese. The survey by leading hotel reservations website Hotels.com shows Chinese travellers rate Thailand as the second most welcoming country in the world. 

In the same category, Chinese quizzed in the research placed South Korea first and Japan in third place. The Hotels.com Chinese International Travel Monitor also indicated that Thailand is among the top 10 destinations in the world with Chinese when they book overseas sojourns. 

The research team questioned 1,500 hotel proprietors from around the world and 3,000 Chinese people who were in the process of making reservations for holidays abroad. The fourth annual report also disclosed the fact that 107 million Chinese travelled abroad in 2014. This was a 20 per cent increase when compared to the previous 12 months. 

Analysts say at growth rates like this the number of Chinese people going overseas for vacations could top 170 million by the start of the new decade in 2020. Another disclosure from the survey was that Chinese booking online were typically the under 35s.
